THE Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Samuel Ogbuku, on Wednesday, donated communication gadgets to the Rivers State Police Command to enhance its operations in the state.

Commissioning the equipment at the command’s headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, Ogbuku disclosed that the donation demonstrated the partnership between the commission and security agencies in Niger Delta.

He said: ” As interventionist agency, we must support the security agency to ensure peace. When it comes to end of the year, there is increase in crime because of activities of criminal elements who want to meet up.

“Since September this year, we have not had violent crimes. We thank you for your sacrifice. When we are sleeping you are out there keeping watch. This equipment is to enhance your performance in policing Rivers State. We intend to replicate it in other states’ commands to ensure they are linked.

“We will also work towards improving mobility of the Police Command. We will not stop, we will continue to do our best. You are our host command. It is happening because of the relationship of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, with the commission.

“He sees that partnership is the only way the Force can benefit more. He is so passionate to ensure the Police do better. We are going to support him because he has the vision of the President (Bola Tinubu). Without communication, no security. Security is going digital.

“This is a gesture of our appreciation to tell you that you have done very well. Without you working hard, crime rate will not reduce.”

The MD of NDDC thanked the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Olatunji Disu, for initiating the project.

In his welcome address, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Mustapha Bala, represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, DCP Samuel Erale, said, “what we are doing is one of the things we were expecting NDDC to do for us.
