A group of Rivers women are currently protesting against the declaration of State of Emergency and appointment of Sole Administrator by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State.

The women, who are heading towards the State Government House, are protesting for the return of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

They also called for lifting of the state of emergency and return to democratic governance in Rivers State.

The women protesters who dressed in black with placards,
passionately appealed to President Tinubu to rescind his decision on the state of emergency.

They declared their support for the embattled governor, condemned injustice and called for save of democracy in Rivers State.

Some of the inscriptions on their placards read: ‘End injustice and bring back our governor ‘, Save our democracy’, ‘No need for State of Emergency’, ‘Let Rivers flourish again’, ‘We stand with Fubara’, and ‘Bring back Fubara.’

Other inscriptions on their placards read: ‘Our rights are being trampled’, ‘Rivers women now live in fear’, ‘Fubara was duly elected’, ‘Bring back stability’, ‘Things are not working’, ‘Respect our lives’ and ‘Our expectations are shattered.’

Pentoks News gathered that the protest was initiated by #bringbackfubara campaigners, with the chant “Pharaoh Let My People Go.”
