PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year extension for the tenure of Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi,

Originally set to end on August 31, 2025, the extension is to allow Adeniyi to continue spearheading vital modernization efforts within the service.

In a statement by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency highlighted the need for continuity in advancing key projects, including the modernization of the Customs Service, the rollout of the National Single Window Project, and the fulfilment of Nigeria’s commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.

President Tinubu praised Adeniyi’s leadership, describing his service as “steadfast and dedicated,” and expressed confidence that the extension would bolster the Customs Service’s role in enhancing trade facilitation, revenue collection, and border security across Nigeria.

The statement said, “This extension reflects the President’s trust in the Comptroller-General’s vision and the importance of sustaining momentum in critical reforms that will shape Nigeria’s economic future.”
