•Police Take Over Shutdown Council Secretariat
By Eric Moore
THERE is turmoil in Ahoada East Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State, following the resignation of the council Sole Administrator, Goodluck Iheamnacho.
Though, it could not be ascertained the cause of his resignation, but
intelligence sources indicated that his resignation might not be voluntary.
Intelligence sources indicated that minutes before the purported resignation, some men moved into the council headquarters and manhandled the administrator.
The sources alleged that the men whose identities were no disclosed, forced Iheamnacho to sign a resignation letter.
Saturday Sun observed that in the resignation letter addressed to the Rivers State Sole Administrator, it was dated June 20, 2025.
But, in the body of the letter, instead of writing “from 11th day of April to 20th June, 2025, it captured 11th day of April to 20th July, 2025.”
He, however, thanked the state sole administrator for giving him the opportunity to serve people of Ahoada East, adding that his resignation followed personal decision to return to the private sector.
Meanwhile, operatives of the state police command have taken over the council secretariat, which has reportedly been shutdown, to forestall breakdown of law and order.
