NO fewer than 800 members of the Rotary District 9141 will storm Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for the installation of Anthony Woghiren, as the 9th District Governor.
This is even as the group has expressed readiness to partner with the media for wider reach of the society and sensitize members of the public of its programmes.
The District comprises of Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Rivers States with 154 active clubs, creating lasting impact on the society.
In a pre-installation media chat, in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Woghiren said the media play pivotal roles of educating, informing and enlightening members of the public.
He stated that without engaging the media as a key partner, the world would be kept in dark of the programmes and success story of Rotary.
Woghiren, who would be installed on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Port Harcourt, said the group has long been noted for humanitarian services and advocacies.
The District governor disclosed that the group places importance on peace building, by sensitizing students and communities to exhibit good morals and right values.
He said this year’s theme is “Uniting for Good”, noting the return of peace in Rivers State, wishing it (peace) could be sustained.
Speaking too, Dame Ibim Semenitari, a member of Installation Committee, said Rotary has sustained its crusade on ensuring infants are free polio disease.
She emphasized that the group is concerned about building a healthy society, supporting the education system and social development.
