A man identified as Theophilus Ndiamzi Amadi, a native of Agba-Ndele community in Emohua Local Government Area, allegedly assaulted his wife, causing a head injury.
The incident occurred after she received N2,000 to participate in a rally organized by Pro-Wike women in Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that, Amadi’s anger stemmed from his dissatisfaction with the former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, whom he felt did not employ or promote civil servants during his eight years tenure.
According to reports, Amadi, who is a civil servant in Rivers State Ministry of Education, got more provoked when he recalled how the last N100,000 Christmas bonus, provided by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, was used to settle their rent.
State Police command could not confirm the incident at the time of filing the report.
