JUSTICE Haleemah Salman of the Kwara State High Court has found the five accused persons involved in the Offa robbery guilty of illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery and culpable homicide.
The judge stated that these offences were punishable by death.
It would be recalled that the six-year trial of six suspects in the April 5, 2018, Offa robbery case, occurred in which over 30 people were killed in the community.
Pentoks News learnt that there was an anticipation of the trial court’s decision earlier in the much-awaited Offa robbery case on Thursday (today), as the Kwara State Judiciary sent additional security officers to the State High Court Headquarters.
This was said in a press statement released on Wednesday night by the Kwara State High Court of Justice’s Media and Information Unit.
It said that the combined team of security personnel will closely control and monitor entry to the court grounds.
To be recognized by security guards, the statement also asked staff workers to always carry their identity cards on the court grounds.
