My Administration Will be Unwavering in Supporting NYSC Scheme – Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme of his administration’s unwavering support to them in their effort in “positively moulding the attitude of the graduate youths and leaders of tomorrow.”

He stated this Tuesday, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State, when he presided over the swearing in ceremony of the 2024 Batch B Stream 1 Corps members deployed to the State.

Represented at the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Hamilton Amadi, Fubara assured the Corps members that he would continue to make “conscious effort to tackle youth unemployment and make life more meaningful to them.”

He expressed optimism that with the sustained improvements that have been made by the NYSC top management in the Scheme’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme designed to empower Corps members and make them self-sustainable, the “nation’s economic resurgence is very much on the horizon.”

Earlier, the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. George Mfongang, had commended the Corps Members for their honest and patriotic sacrifices in nation building in the last 51 years.

Speaking further, he urged them to see their mobilization into the National Service as a rare privilege that should motivate them to work hard to entrench unity, socio-economic development, peace and prosperity of the nation.

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, represented by Justice Opufaa Ben-Whyte, administered the Oath of Allegiance on the Corps members at the occasion.

A total of 1,771 Corps members were sworn in at the colorful event.
