A MAN in his early 30s identified as Michael, has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his friend, Uchenna, to death after accusing him (Uchenna) of stealing his (Michael’s) phone.

Pentoks News gathered that the incident occured at Egede Street, Mile 2 Diobu Port Harcourt, Rivers State, last Wednesday.

A source privy to the incident disclosed that Uchenna visited Michael in his house as both of them were friends; but, after sometime, Michael could not find his mobile phone.

The source revealed that Michael accused Uchenna of stealing his handset, but the deceased denied the accusation, which led to an argument.

According to the source, who graved anonymity, during the altercation, Michael picked up a jack knife and allegedly stabbed Uchenna on the stomach.

Uchenna was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead, while Michael was later arrested by the Police.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police (SP), has confirmed the incident to journalists.

She told a journalist: “Yes, I can confirm the incident. The suspect has been arrested and transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt, for detailed investigation.”
