A pathetic incident has left 31 years old hair stylist, Blessing, battling for survival after her neighbour, identified as Ejike, a married man and father of two, poured hot water on her face and breast in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The tragic incident occurred on Azikiwe Street, Mile 2 Diobu, in the state capital when the victim (Blessing) entered the compound to retrieve boiled water from an electric kettle for a customer’s hair treatment.
Pentoks News gathered that, tragically, Ejike’s son accidentally collided with Blessing, causing some hot water to spill on the ground and slightly on the child’s leg.
Witnesses reported that as Blessing sympathized with the little boy.
They said Ejike emerged from his room, inquired about the incident, and was informed by neighbours.
Shocking, Ejike allegedly carried the kettle and poured the remaining hot water on Blessing’s breast and face.
Ejike immediately fled the scene, leaving Blessing severely injured.
The lady was rushed to the Azikiwe Police Division, Ilabouchi, by sympathizers, where she received Police medical form and was taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Meanwhile the family of Blessing is demanding for justice on the matter.
The elder brother to the victim, Goodluck Nwankwo, in a brief speech with journalists said: “We want the Police to get the young man arrested; then, if he is arrested he will see what he did to my sister.
“It’s not right, I have to do the necessary thing so that government can take over the matter. I want justice to be done.
“Due to the medical attention they have given her yesterday, she is getting small better. But, the problem is the money in that place is very much, which I have spent a lot; I don’t have much to spend.
Sources said the burns on Blessing’s breast as result of the hot water is very severe.
The Rivers State Police Command is yet to react to the incident.
Pentoks News gathered that Mr Ejike is now at large.
