Leave Enduring Legacies In Rivers, Fubara Tasks Corps Members

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the State to leave enduring legacies in their host communities by serving the people well.
He stated this during the closing ceremony of 2024 Batch B Stream 1 Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday.
Fubara, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Hamilton Amadi, used the occasion to further urge the Corps members to be “beacons of light to the people by living a worthy and responsible life that will inspire people to emulate them.”
He reminded them of taking seriously, the Scheme’s Skills Acquisition programme in order to “equip themselves for economic emancipation, empowerment, self-reliance and wealth creation.”
Earlier, in his farewell address, the Coordinator NYSC Rivers State, Mr. George Mfongang, assured the governor and the guests that the Corps members have been adequately trained to “offer invaluable services to the good people of the State that are anchored on patriotism, discipline, integrity and loyalty.”
Speaking further, Mr. Mfongang called on the Corps members to be “committed to the task of nation building by using the instrument of NYSC’s Community Development Service (CDS) platform to initiate and execute projects that will uplift the lives of the people of the State.”
He concluded by calling on them to deploy their “youthful energies in promoting what is good, valuable, noble and beneficial to all citizens irrespective of tribe and tongue while shunning negative acts like cultism, drug abuse, internet fraud among other social vices which are capable of putting them in a harm’s way.”
In the colorful and well attended closing ceremony, a total of 1800 Corps members successfully completed the orientation exercise.
