Gunmen Kill OSPAC Vigilance Member in Rivers

Tragedy struck in Igwuruta community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State on Wednesday night, as by unknown gunmen shot dead a member of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) Security and Peace Advisory Committee (OSPAC), simply identified as Prince.
Pentoks News gathered that the OSPAC members responded to a distress call about an incident of kidnapping in the area, when they were ambushed by the unknown gunmen who opened fire on the security personnel resulting to the death of the deceased.
The incident was said to have thrown the community into panic as residents scampered for safety.
Community sources disclosed that the corpse has been evacuated and taken to undisclosed mortuary.
In another development, the Rivers State Police Command said it has unmasked a tricycle (keke) robbery network in the state and arrested 14 suspects in connection with multiple robbery incidents.
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police (SP), Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement on Thursday, disclosed that in the past few months, armed robbers using Keke (tricycles) had carried out attacks in various parts of State.
Iringe-Koko asserted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, has ordered all divisions and tactical units to crack down on these criminals.
