Gunmen Kidnap Over 20 Medical, Dental Students In Benue

Suspected bandits have kidnapped over 20 medical and dental students and a House Officer in Benue State.
The students were en route to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu, Enugu State.
The students, said to be from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were traveling together when they were ambushed by gunmen around 5:30 p.m. in the Oturkpo area of the state.
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Catherine Anene, a Superintendent of Police (SP), who confirmed the incident to the media.
She said an investigation had been launched into the abduction.
Anene said: “Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing.”
