SOON after issuing a statement by the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) banning the practice of final year students sign-out celebrations, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, addressed students, urging them to be reasonable and responsible always.
Abdul Rahman made his address to students during a snap visit to the two campuses of the University, namely, Take-off Site Campus and Permanent Site Campus, all in Lafia.
He called on the students to act in decent manners and conduct the the sign-out activities with sanity and civility.
It would be recalled that the University, in a statement issued by the Registrar, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, has banned all sign-out celebrations after a preventable fatal accident involving two tricycles occurred during a sign-out celebration at the Permanent Site Campus, recently.
Abdul Rahman called on the students to limit their celebrations to their faculties and avoid the use of vehicles during the events.
The vice-chancellor, who used the occasions of his visits to the campuses to sign on the shirt of some students, urged students to keep away from activities capable of tarnishing the good image of FULafia.
“We are known in this University for our innovative and excellent ways of doing things, please, let us stay on that path,” he said.
