FEDERAL Government has confirmed the suspension of the October monthly Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) revenue payment to Rivers State.
This development has heightened tensions between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), Bawa Mokwa, reportedly revealed the development to journalists on Friday.
While the government recently approved N1.1411 trillion for October 2024 FAAC disbursement across federal, state, and local councils, Rivers State’s allocation was withheld due to a court injunction restraining the Central Bank of Nigeria and federal authorities from processing the payment.
Mokwa affirmed the government’s commitment to respecting the court order.
He said: “We are going to follow due diligence as long as there is no contrary order.”
As the time of filing the report, the October allocation had yet to be disbursed to any state, with the OAGF continuing to process the payments.
