From PAULINE PODKA, Abuja
At least three governors have declared curfew in their states, after violence broke out during the first day of the nationwide protests against hunger and bad governance in Nigeria.
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf imposed a 24-hour curfew due to the worsening hunger protests.
Yusuf declared a 24-hour curfew in Kano State, to “further prevent looting and vandalism of businesses and killing of innocent citizens.”
He directed all security agencies in the state to ensure full and immediate compliance.
Also, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum imposed a 24-hour curfew across the 27 local government areas in the state.
The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, imposed a 24-hour curfew in Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru local government areas.
The curfews were imposed due to violent incidents and lootings during the hunger protests.
