A dog meat seller from Akwa Ibom State has absconded with his neighbour’s six months old male child at Aneke Lane, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The suspect, simply identified as Erica, in his mid 30th, committed the crime last Sunday.
Pentoks News gathered that Erica had just stayed two months in the compound and known for killing and selling dog meat at the front of the compound.
The mother of the child, Mrs. Hope Sunday, in an interview with journalists on Monday, narrated how her the neighbour absconded with her baby.
She said: “My baby’s name is Lucky Sunday. The baby is six months going to seven months. I stay at Aneke Lane N0.25, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt.
“I wanted to wash (clothes); he (neighbour) volunteered to carry my baby, so that I could spread the clothes. I allowed him to carry my baby because he likes to carry him.
“So, I ordered my other children to go inside and sleep while he (neighbour) sat on the chair carrying my baby. I pursued my other children inside the room; and when I came out, I did not see him (neighbour) again.
“I ask a woman around if she saw my neighbour with my baby; she said he (neighbour) did not go far. I asked another brother, the brother said I should go to the Lotto office that the brother (neighbour) said he wants to charge phone there.
“I ran to the Lotto office but I did not see him (neighbour). Till now, I have not seen my neighbour and my baby.
“His name is Erica, he is my neighbour. I have also reported to the Police.”
Meanwhile, well-wishers and neighbours of Mrs. Hope Sunday, have expressed shock at what happened, wondering that the suspect, who is barely two months and her neighbour could perpetrate such a wicked act.
Pentoks News gathered that the incident has been reported to the Azikiwe Police Division at Iloabuchi, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt.
