THE Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has challenged officers and men of the Nigerian Army to continue to device clever ways to enhance office management through effective use of information and computer technology.

Lieutenant General Oluyede represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, gave the challenge at the closing of a three-day 2024 Nigerian Army Chief Clerks Convention in the state capital.

Oluyede noted: “You add value to your functions in your respective employment bearing in mind challenges in the cooperative environment, particularly as regards to cyber threat with the call that we all witness how official correspondences have on several occasions been compromised through unprofessional conduct of some class.

“We have seen where our official documents were printed in social media and in some cases even in press media. This, in deed, has brought implication of personal and operational security.

Meanwhile, the College Chief Clerk from National Defence College, Abu Isiaka spoke on behalf of the participants, thanking the COAS for providing the platform for the clerks to improve and be ICT compliance.

He said the knowledge garnered at the convention has broadened their knowledge on ways to apply ICT for efficient and effective job operations in their various commands and units.

Isiaka said: “The Chief Clerks’ convention 2024 has taught us the active way of discharging our responsibilities as the chief clerks in the Nigeria Army.

“At this point, let me congratulate the Chief of Army Staff who has made it possible for us to have participated in this convention.”

Theme of the 2024 convention was: “Enhancing the Capacity of Nigerian Army Chief Clerks in Office Management through Effective Employment of Information and Computer Technology.”
