Be Patriotic In Your Service Year, DG Charges Corps Members

The 2024 Batch B Stream 1 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to Rivers State, have been charged to be “responsible and patriotic” in the course of the service year.

The Director General, NYSC, Brig. General Y.D. Ahmed, gave the charge, when he visited the Corps members on camp and addressed them at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of the state.

He used the occasion to enjoin the Corps members to be “disciplined in all things they do and respect the culture, tradition, customs, norms and values” of the people of the host community when posted for their Primary Assignment (PA).

Speaking further, he urged the Corps members to add value in their host communities by initiating and executing viable Community Development Service (CDS) projects that will positively impact on the lives of the people.

Continuing, General Ahmed appealed to the Corps members to take the issues relating to their personal security, skill acquisition and mental capacity building through the series of lectures delivered to them seriously.

He concluded by urging the Corps members to avoid traveling without permission, not to travel at night if they must, obey NYSC dress code by and maintaining clean environment at all times.

Earlier, the State Coordinator NYSC Rivers State, Mr. George Mfongang had informed the DG that a total of 1,800 Corps members were registered.

He commended the Corps members for their outstanding and excellent performances since their arrival to camp, especially in actively participating in all camp programmes and activities.

General Ahmed was accompanied on the visit by the Director, Information & Public Relations, Chief Eddy Megwa and the Deputy Director, Special Duties, Mr. Nura Umar.
