ACCORDING to Iran International, the conflict between Iran and Israel has escalated to an unprecedented level, with both nations exchanging multiple military strikes in recent days.

Despite the heavy toll and heightened regional tension, a ceasefire has reportedly been initiated, offering a momentary pause in hostilities.

This fragile truce follows a period of intense cross-border retaliation and geopolitical uncertainty that drew international concern.

In an exclusive interview with Israel’s Channel 13, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz revealed the extent of Israel’s strategic intentions, explicitly stating that the Iranian Supreme Leader was a potential target.

Katz said: “If he (Iran’s Supreme Leader) had been in our sights, we would have taken him out. We wanted to eliminate Khamenei, but there was no operational opportunity,” Katz declared, underscoring the boldness of Israel’s military posture.

When questioned about possible U.S. coordination, Katz replied definitively: “We don’t need permission for these things,” reaffirming Israel’s readiness to act unilaterally in matters of national security.

Katz further elaborated on the evasive maneuvers employed by Iran’s top leadership in response to the threat.

“But Khamenei understood this, went underground to very great depths, and broke off contacts with the commanders who replaced those commanders who were eliminated, so it wasn’t realistic in the end,” he explained.

This admission not only highlights the strategic cat-and-mouse nature of the confrontation but also underscores the limits of military reach in the face of calculated concealment. As both sides momentarily step back from the brink, the world watches closely, hoping the ceasefire will hold.
