ABDUCTED parish priest of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Izombe in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, Reverend Father John Ubaechu, has regained his freedom.
Rev. Fr. Ubaechu kidhapped abducted on Sunday March 23, 2025, by gunmen.
It was gathered that the kidnappers had demanded a N20 million ransom for the release of the priest.
A release signed by the Archdiocesan Chancellor/Secretary of the church, Reverend Father Patrick Mbarah, said he (victim ) was released on March 26, after spending almost three days in captivity.
Mbarah said: “We thank God for his infinite mercies and for answering our pray. We appreciate your fraternal solidarity and prayers. To God be the glory.”
The priest was abducted on his way to a retreat along Ejemekwuru road, Oguta in the evening, as earlier confirmed by the archdiocese.
