…As lawmakers Give Gov 48hrs To Present Budget

RIVERS State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that he is not perturbed about any plot to impeach him by the reinstated House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule.

This is even as the Assembly during its plenary on Monday, gave the governor 48 hours ultimatum to present the 2025 Budget to the House.

Governor Fubara had at an event in Port Harcourt, advised his supporters to remain calm and await for his directive at the appropriate time.

He said: “I am not scared of anything. The worse that can happen is to remove me from office. That doesn’t mean I will be removed from the surface of the earth. I am not bothered about that.

“But, the right thing must be done and and must be said when the opportunity is given to us. As for the youths, don’t be perturbed. Be strong. I assure you that at the right time, you will get the instruction.”

“I don’t have anything to give to you. We have not even given to you anything right from the time we started.

“I have been running a system where every time when we tried to stabilize, one spanner would be thrown into our way. So, with that reason, it is like bringing us back to zero again. And we start afresh.

“But, I will continue to thank you for supporting us without getting anything; supporting because you believe it is the right thing to do for Rivers State.

According to the governor, time has ripe for Rivers people to take “their destiny by their hands.

He continued: “Let nobody be deceived. There are some persons that would carry the symbol of some persons and it would be a curse in this state.

“People should know that, because no matter how we have been fooled in this state, it has gotten to a point where the people have decided to take their destinies in their hands.

“In as much as I don’t subscribe to violence, when the time comes for us to take a decision, l would lead the cause for that decision. And let me say it again, I am not scared of anything.

Meanwhile, the lawmakers at the sitting took a decision that the governor should present the budget to the House within 48 hours.

The ultimatum was given to Governor Fubara following a motion moved by the Deputy Speaker, Dumle Maol.
